چکیده

Artificial bone (PC, containing 3% indomethacin) with biocompatibility, inter-connective pore structure, and drug delivery ability was obtained from self-setting apatite/collagen composite cement. X-ray powder diffraction and FT-IR spectroscopy suggested that PC consisted of carbonated apatite and had a structure similar to that of natural rat bone. The IMC release rates from a PC block containing the drug were measured in simulated body fluid. The rate of release increased with the number of macropore, that from planar surface matrix systems followed the Higuchi equation.

Effect of geometrical structure on the biodegradation of a three-dimensionally perforated porous apatite/collagen composite bone cell scaffold.

A Biodegradable artificial bone with inter-connective pores was prepared using a self-setting apatite/collagen composite cement as a cell scaffold for bone regenerative medicine, and investigated as to biocompatibility by X-ray computed tomography (CT) after its implantation into rats. Blocks (APN, APC and ACC) of apatite cement, apatite cement with continuous holes, and apatite/collagen compos...

Foreword. Bioceramic research on intelligent implants and drug delivery system.

Hydroxyapatite (HAp, Ca10(PO4)6(OH)2) has a hexagonal crystalline system and is a mineral component of vertebrate hard tissues, an important raw biomaterials and an element of drug delivery systems. It is commonly used as a filler to replace amputated bone or as a coating to promote bone ingrowth into prosthetic implants. There are, therefore, two historical research approaches to develop bioco...

PLLA scaffolds with biomimetic apatite coating and biomimetic apatite/collagen composite coating to enhance osteoblast-like cells attachment and activity

Novel scaffolds composed of poly(L-lactic acid) (PLLA) skeleton covered with bonelike apatite or apatite/collagen composite were produced via a combined phase-separation technique and an accelerated biomimetic coating process. Saos-2 osteoblast-like cells were used to evaluate the cellular behaviors on these biomimetic coatings. Cell morphologies on the surfaces of PLLA scaffolds, PLLA scaffold...

Preparation of in situ hardening composite microcarriers: Calcium phosphate cement combined with alginate for bone regeneration

Novel microcarriers consisting of calcium phosphate cement and alginate were prepared for use as three-dimensional scaffolds for the culture and expansion of cells that are effective for bone tissue engineering. The calcium phosphate cement-alginate composite microcarriers were produced by an emulsification of the composite aqueous solutions mixed at varying ratios (calcium phosphate cement pow...

Effects of porous-hydroxyapatite incorporated into glass-ionomer sealants.

The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the mechanical and chemical properties of a novel glass ionomer cement for use as a pit and fissure sealant containing a porous hydroxyapatite, namely, apatite ionomer cement (AIC). Control sealant samples were used Fuji III (GIC-S). The experiment sealant samples (AIC-S) consisted of porous spherical hydroxyapatite (HApS) particles added at 28 w...
